Jordan Peterson made an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience this week in a four-hour-long episode that covered a vast range of topics, from race to climate change.

The clinical psychologist and author is a controversial figure who is much loved in conservative circles.

Peterson is the author of a number of books including "12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos," and "Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life" and the self-proclaimed "professor against political correctness."

Jordan Peterson claims Michael Eric Dyson is "not Black"

At one point during the episode, Peterson suggested that academic Michael Eric Dyson is not Black.

While discussing Dyson, Peterson said: "I am white—actually that's a lie too. I am kind of tan. And he was actually not Black, he was sort of brown.

To which Rogan responded: "If you're tan then what the f*** am I. Because I'm darker than you. That's ridiculous."

Peterson went on to say: "Neither of us are white," and added that Dyson "was brown, not Black."

While Rogan then went on to say: "Unless you are talking to someone who is like 100% African from the darkest place where they are not wearing any clothes all day ... the term Black is weird."

Jordan Peterson tells Joe Rogan that poor people are "not resource-efficient"

Peterson suggested the fastest way to have a sustainable world is to make "poor people as rich as possible," saying they are not "resource-efficient" because their main priority is feeding their families.

"The fastest way to make the planet sustainably green and ecologically viable is to make poor people as rich as possible as fast as we possibly can," Peterson said.

"The thing about poor people is that they're not resource-efficient. They use a lot of resources to produce very little outcome, so that's a problem.

"But even more importantly, when you're insecure on a day-to-day basis, you don't know where your next meal is coming from, you're not paying attention to the broader environment around you," he added.

Jordan Peterson says climate is not real

"There's no such thing as climate, right," Peterson tells Rogan during the episode.

"Climate and 'everything' are the same word and that's what bothers me about the climate change types," he said.

Peterson tells Rogan that "more people die every year from solar energy than die from nuclear [power.]"

When the host questions this, Peterson goes on to say: "Guess how you die from solar, you fall off the roof when you're installing it. That's gravity and a good example of unintended consequences."

Jordan Peterson and Joe Rogan discuss "protected classes" in comedy

The topic of comedy was discussed which saw Rogan say that there are "protected classes" in comedy—groups that are off-limits when it comes to making offensive jokes.

"People are going after comedy for a literal representation of what the words mean if you put them in print, and that's nonsense," Rogan said.

Peterson responded: "They believe that there are some things that can't be made fun off."

Then Rogan went on to say: "Really what they're doing is looking for targets. They're playing a game."

He added: "There's a lot of things you can't joke about. You can't joke about protected classes, we know who they are we don't have to bring them up."

He then proceeds to bring up: "Trans people, gay people, people of color or Asian people."

One group you can "mock relentlessly," Rogan says, is white men.

Last week, Peterson defended Rogan after hundreds of scientists and medical experts signed an open letter accusing the podcaster of "repeatedly spread[ing] misleading and false claims."

The letter accuses Rogan of a "concerning history of broadcasting misinformation, particularly regarding the COVID-19 pandemic."

In defense, Peterson tweeted: "Joe Rogan: King of Misinformation. That's why so many people prefer him to CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS (which never lie or dissimulate) @JoeRogan Leave him alone @Spotify and censors everywhere."
